In an ideal world your driver would be as long as, well a driver, and as
accurate as a 3-wood. That's the ideal world. Getting there takes some "jimmying" to use the
technical term.
First off, simply assembling a driver head on a shorter shaft would make the
finished club too light to control effectively.
You would have to add extra weight to the club head to counteract the lower
weight of the shorter shaft.
That's where the Acer XDS Thriver comes in. Measuring in at a full 460 cc
of Titanium driver with an extra 10 g of weight to accommodate the shorter shaft.
That extra weight is distributed round the perimeter and as every schoolboy
knows, more perimeter weighting, more MOI and more MOI = a more forgiving driver.
The Acer XDS Thriver uses some nifty crown contours to help keep the club on the
correct in-to-out swing path. The masking on the crown also makes the Thriver look square at
address, when it's actually 1o closed.
