By moving most of the weight lower and further away from the club face, hybrid irons have a very low center of gravity which helps with getting the ball airborne. The rounded soles virtually eliminate the fat shot and the overall design results in an accurate and consistent set of irons.

The longer irons have the widest soles and the lowest faces. This make for high launches, better glide through the ball and more forgiveness of off-center hits. As you move to the shorter irons, the soles become progressively narrower and the faces progressively higher. This make for better accuracy with the scoring clubs and more spin, as the ball has more club face to roll up and compress on.

The sole designs are different from club to club as well. Bigger sole radius on the long irons for better launch and more forgiveness, smaller radius on the scoring clubs for better accuracy.
