Golf Club Face Height
For Woods and Hybrids, the distance from the
ground to the top arc of the club face. In simple terms the vertical size of the club.
Face height plays an important role in the
trajectory and flight of the ball. A club with a bigger face height tends to have a greater
percentage of the overall weight higher in the club, resulting in a slightly lower
trajectory then a shallow faced club with the same loft.
A club with a smaller face height tends to have a
greater percentage of the overall club weight lower down and towards the rear of the club,
resulting in a higher trajectory than a deep faced club with the same loft.
If you're worried about matching the trajectories
with your favorite shafts, then keep in mind that deeper is lower, shallow is higher.
Have a look at where your misses are on your club
face. Below or above the center line, go with the deeper face. To the left or right of
the center line, go with the shallower face.
